Abstract
This article presents a narrative recorded in cantón Desagüe de Belén, Lake Güija, Metapán, during the author’s thesis, which focused on the value of the Igüaltepeque site and the proposal of a methodology for data collection and community engagement to preserve the existing cultural heritage. The study centers on the ritual of child sacrifice and other elements in the plot, such as references to past volcanic events. Symbolic analysis suggests that these sacrifices were part of renewal rituals, with syncretic remnants surviving in the form of a narrative within the communities.
